- Following UFC 102, Dana White said that UFC is planning to hold an upcoming event in Brazil. He also said that the expected event in the Philippines is now on hold. UFC’s last event in Brazil was UFC Ultimate Brazil (UFC 17.5) back in October 1998. Brazil has produced many top UFC fighters including Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Demian Maia, Gabriel Gonzaga, and others.

As for the Philippines, White said that the worldwide financial crisis has caused UFC to reconsider his travel plans.

“We were going to go to the Philippines,” White said. “We had a deal done to go to the Philippines, and then when the world collapsed, the sponsors that were going to help us get down there, everything fell apart. Nobody has any money anymore. It’s a lot trickier to figure out how to navigate throughout the world without money.”
